3/21/2020 0 Comments Understanding Non-Binary PeopleNon-binary is a term used by people who do not identify themselves as man, or woman, or male or female. It is used to refer to people who have a mixture of both genders’ characteristics, and those who change their sex over time. Others refer to themselves as non-binary for no other reason other than they do not like to be constricted by society’s idea of what male and female constitute. Some other terms that can be considered to almost have the same meaning as non-binary are bigender, genderqueer, or agender. Though they are not the same, they refer to experiences that cannot be classified as being simply male or female. It is important to note that some non-binary people undergo medical procedures so their bodies are made more congruent with whichever gender they feel they identify with most. It is also important to note that not all transgender people are non-binary. This is a common misconception, and so is the idea that being intersex automatically makes a person non-binary. A lot of transgenders and people who are intersex refer to themselves as either male and female, and this is why you should not assume that they identify as being non-binary without asking. The term non-binary is used by people who do not innately identify as male or female despite being born with either gender’s features. Find more info in this site: cadehildreth.com.
